Cate Farm News August 2022

Tomato Time!

Tomatoes are in full production, and if you are looking for some, we have lots. We sell 10lb. flats of slightly imperfect tomatoes for $19/flat here at the farm. Tomato flats are available Mondays and Thursdays from 1pm to 5pm. First come, first served. Cash or check only, please bring exact change. If you want more than 2 flats, please email us to make sure we have enough and to put your name on them.

And you can always find our tomatoes at Bragg Farm, Plainfield Hardware, AR Market, Adamant Co-op and Hunger Mt. Co-op.

The first annual Tomato Trot 5K Trail Run and Farm Tour were a big success, over 50 runners participated! All runners received tomatoes upon crossing the finish line, and a new 5K course record was set at 20:33. Check out the race results HERE.

All the Best from Sally, Richard, Flint and the Team at Cate Farm.

5pm Farm Tour: Cate Farm has been farmed for over 200 years! A brief farm history and overview of current operations will be followed by pro tips for growing great tasting tomatoes and a tour of a tomato greenhouse. Afterwards, we’ll fire up (very literally!) a tractor mounted flame weeder, and demo a soil block machine from the Netherlands used for plastic-free seedling production. Other unusual equipment will be on display (think Blind Tine weeder, and mechanical Finger weeders, trolleys...) The 5pm farm tour is free of charge. Sign up for Farm Tour HERE.
