Cate Farm News      Late July 2022

B Tomatoes are Here!

It is that time of year again- we are selling our “cosmetically challenged” tomatoes from the farm in 10lb flats for $19/flat. Same great taste, just slightly imperfect. We are open Mondays and Thursdays from 1pm to 5pm, starting July 28th. First come, first served. Cash or check only, please bring exact change. If you want more than 2 flats, please email us to make sure we have enough and to put your name on them. Soon, we’ll have no shortage of tomatoes!

If you just want just a few tomatoes, visit Bragg Farm, Plainfield Hardware, AR Market, Adamant Co-op and Hunger Mt. Co-op.

Burdock roots are sizing up, we hope to start harvesting mid August!

And check out Cate Farm during Vermont’s Open Farm Week: we’ll be hosting 2 events, a Tomato Trot 5K Trail Run, and also a Farm Tour with Equipment Demo, both on August 13th. Click HERE for more info.

We hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful time of year!

All the Best from Sally, Richard, Flint and the Team at Cate Farm.

Last Call for Tomatoes!                            Late September News

Tomato season is winding down, and Monday October 3rd will be the last chance to pick up B tomatoes at the farm. We have had a great season, but alas, summer is behind us. Come  Monday or Thursday afternoons from 1-5pm to get your tomatoes: $19 for a 10 lb flat, self-serve, cash or check. Exact change please. If you need more than 2 flats, please let us know via email. Thanks everyone for your support, and for navigating the new sales area. Your thoughts? Any feedback is always appreciated, catefarmvt@gmail.com.

Burdock harvest is in full swing, our fresh roots are available by mail order, or find them at Hunger Mt. Co-op in Montpelier or City Market in Burlington. Dried burdock root will be available on our website next week.

Soon we’ll start putting the fields and greenhouses to bed, sowing cover crops, tackling repairs, and then winterizing our seasonal water systems.

Fall is a beautiful time of year, with cool crisp mornings and brilliant sunny days. Perfect for harvesting root crops. Looking for a few hours of fun and get paid too? Come join our burdock harvest crew! Temporary, part time employment. Work mornings or afternoon shifts. Interested? Text Flint at 802-477-2741 or email us at catefarmvt@gmail.com.

All the best from Sally, Richard, Flint and the team at Cate Farm.
