New Farmer in Town!
You may have seen the Times Argus photo of Richard, Sally and Flint in the seedling greenhouse, with the caption describing Flint taking over the business from his parents. It’s true and the word is out, Flint will officially take over the farm business in 2023! He has been been pretty much running things this year, with a little help from Richard:) Sally retired last year, and as of January, Richard will be retired too, and hopes to help Flint out next year, if Flint wants to hire him! Richard is dusting off his resume and putting his best foot forward in filling out the 2023 work application at Cate Farm, hoping that some past work experience may help with his hiring:)
Seedlings are all done for this year, thanks everyone for your support. We had a great Spring plant season, and we are already planning for next year. Let us know if you have any suggestions for new varieties, or tips for how we can improve our operation.
Tomatoes are just beginning to ripen, soon you’ll find them at Bragg Farm, Plainfield Hardware, Adamant Co-op and Hunger Mt. Co-op. Our 10 pound flats of “cosmetically challenged” B tomatoes will be for sale on the farm in a couple of weeks. Check our website Homepage for current info.
And our fields of burdock root are thriving, rooted out and freshly weeded. With luck, we’ll start harvesting some roots in August.
Happy Summer!
All the best from the Team at Cate Farm.
