Fall has Arrived!

Fall is here and the tomato season has ended. Fresh and dried burdock root is now available here and at Hunger Mountain Co-op.

Thank you to to everyone for your tremendous support as we recover from the flood. We are so grateful for this community! Your kind words and donations are humbling.

On July 10, 2024 the Winooski River flooded our fields yet again. We lost our main crop of burdock. We have a small stand that is on high ground so we will have a limited amount available this fall.

Our greenhouse tomatoes are growing strong and are everything we hope for is these summer fruits - red, juicy and sweet! You can find our tomatoes at Hunger Mountain Coop, Plainfield Hardware, Bragg Farm & Fox Market.

Seconds Tomatoes (‘B Grade’ or better) are available at the farm Mondays & Thursdays only from 1 - 5 pm. We accept cash, check & Venmo. We’ll have pre-weighed 10 pound flats available for $22/flat at the farm stand. These are on a first come first serve basis and the volume will only increase as the summer progresses.

Cate Farm grows certified organic plants and produce in central Vermont. We began growing organic vegetables, herbs, and flowers in 1981. We started small and have grown slowly to our present size of eight 96′ long greenhouses under cultivation and 22 acres that are used for a mix of field crops and forage. Cate Farm is family owned and operated and everything we sell is certified organic.

Richard and Sally retired in 2023 and handed the reins over to their son Flint. Flint has been working on the farm since he was knee high to a grasshopper, and in a full time position since 2017.
